Representation was increased from 8 to 13 members. The new council now reflects the MD, MD-PhD, and PhD as well as house staff, post-doctoral fellow, and faculty experience. This new membership broadened our gender diversity and increased the racial diversity from 0 to 23%. JHm&SA Grant program In the past, the association donated funds to support the same organizations annually. While JHM&SA will continue to support many of these organizations fi-nancially, it has expanded the opportunity for new initiatives to be considered. Students, residents, & fellows are able to apply for grants to support programs and initiatives that reflect the current needs and life of the School of Medicine. fy21 funding initiatives stethoscope & white coats Through fundraising, 100% of the 121 first-year students and 116 post-doctoral candidates received their white coats as gifts. This scholarship currently provides one medical student with over $14,000 to-wards their educational expenses. The association also sponsors five Young In-vestigator Awards annually for post-doctoral students and fellows. graduate students wellness programs The pandemic has been stressful for everyone. The Graduate Student Association, with JHM&SA's support, was able to place a focus on the mental and physical well-ness of students, increased the availability of outdoor fitness and yoga classes available, and were able to provide students free vouchers for small, but im-portant, "pick-me-ups" like coffee and locally made ice cream to help mitigate stress. medicine magazine JHM&SA subsidizes the Johns Hopkins Medicine Magazine to safeguard the inclusion of supplemental pages of Class Notes and alumni Obituaries in the magazine. program in arts, humanities, & health JHM&SA partnered with PAHH (formerly the Office of Cultural Affairs) to provide support for their programming. PAHH was able to provide a second virtual per-formance of the Theater of War for Frontline Workers. This performance also featured panel discussion that brought frontline medical providers from Johns Hopkins and around Baltimore to discuss the unique challenges of providing medical care in the age of COVID. The impact of this unique program was featured in both the New Yorker and The Lancet. 2022 virtual reunion and Alumni weekend JHM&SA co-sponsored, with the School of Medicine, the second virtual Reunion & Alumni Weekend. There were close to 700 registrants from around the globe. As the pandemic has continued, and with broader experience in virtual offerings, this year's event was expanded to include the classes whose reunion was impacted last year as well as this year's honorees for a total of 20 classes to be included in the opportunity for virtual class connections. The weekend also permitted attendees to engage through discussions boards, one-on-one chat features, and the choice of 15 reunion programs and 7 departmental programs to select from. With the added availability of on-demand sessions and recordings of the live ses-sions, attendees were allowed the flexibility to participate as their schedules permitted.
