Welcome to the Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity. Together, we seek to further our mission to cultivate all perspectives, comprehend each patient, collaborate with our community and create health equity.

Our Mission

To provide content expertise and programmatic support to institutional leadership and HR to recruit, promote, retain, and engage those underrepresented in medicine, science, nursing, and healthcare administration so that we can achieve health equity for the most vulnerable populations.

Our Vision

We envision a Johns Hopkins Medicine where diversity, equity, and inclusion are in our DNA, and where together we commit to:

  • Embracing and celebrating our differences
  • Educating and developing our staff and learners
  • Engaging in equitable healthcare delivery and workforce practices

Announcements from the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity

  • The Achievers Award program recognizes and highlights members of underrepresented minorities across Johns Hopkins Medicine who exemplify excellence and exhibit our Johns Hopkins core values.

    Nominate a deserving colleague for an Achievers Award in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15). The deadline for nominations is Aug. 12th. 

    Nominate a deserving colleague for an Achievers Award in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (October). The deadline for nominations is Sept. 2nd

    Award recipients will be profiled on the Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity website, in Inside Hopkins, and at a signature ERG event.

  • Over the past two years, the Johns Hopkins Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity has spearheaded and supported increased community outreach, new allyship and anti-oppression resources and training, town hall discussions, health equity legislation and more.

  • The purpose of our annual reports is to summarize in one location the progress on the diversity, inclusion, and health equity strategic plan each year. It also provides a resources for us to communicate our accomplishments to our internal and external community.

  • Our office has been proud to partner with JHM/JHU Government and Community Affairs, JHM Marketing and Communications, the Center for Health Equity, Centro SOL, the Urban Health Institute, and other JHU partners to delivery culturally tailored community COVID-19 vaccine education across the Baltimore and National Capitol Regions.

  • To achieve JHM's mission, we must create a culture where diversity and inclusion are in our DNA. The Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Health Equity has created a comprehensive Strategic Plan that will help our organization further support the well-being of our people and communities, push the boundaries of science and education, aim for precision in everything we do and improve the quality and affordability of health care.
