Johns Hopkins hospitals allow patients to register before the admission date to save time at admission. The registration process helps us update your current information and ensure everything is correct so your medical record and bills are handled smoothly and accurately.

Make Your Healthcare Wishes Known

Modern medical technology has the power to extend a person's life, and doctors have more treatment choices than ever before. Before you are admitted to a hospital, consider what your wishes are when it comes to:

  • CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • Ventilator use
  • Organ and tissue donation
  • Artificial nutrition (tube feeding) or artificial hydration (IV fluids)

You may choose to provide an advance directive to clarify these and other instructions for treatment if you become unconscious or otherwise unable to speak for yourself. The advance directive ensures that your wishes are understood by your care team and it eliminates potential confusion among your family and friends.
