Call to Action for Racial Equality is a statewide racial justice leader, dismantling oppressive structures plaguing communities of color across West Virginia. CARE builds power that combats systemic racism in West Virginia through community organizing, youth leadership development, and policy change.
Training & Education
We provide education and training focused on anti-racist and anti-oppression frameworks for groups and organizations, including police department staff.
We want to cultivate a future generation of racial justice leadership.
We want to build a statewide policy platform through a research initiative on the impact of racial disparities and incarceration in West Virginia.
We need you! We currently have four teams working on the following areas:
Training & Education: Our T&E Team includes policing training, white ally / white caucus training, and curriculum development.
Youth Council: Our Youth Council leads youth organizing efforts across the state. Apply to join online.
Volunteer Engagement & On-Ramping: We appreciate volunteer support from lawyers, grant writers, fundraisers, social media and communications gurus, policy researchers, and for events. This team finds ways for new people to plug into CARE Coalition’s committees and helps identify prospective board members.
Policy: This team works on community organizing around policy and reviews current policy and research conducted by staff.
