Call for Workshop Proposals
Call to Action for Racial Equality (CARE Coalition) is organizing West Virginia’s first racial justice conference, the Mountain State Racial Justice Summit, on November 30 and December 1, 2018 at a location TBA.
Our theme this year is “Rekindle Power. Generate Light. Build Futures.” We are looking for individuals or small groups interested in facilitating 1.5 hour workshops, dialogue and discussion groups, or strategy sessions on a variety of topics as they relate to racial justice organizing in West Virginia and Central Appalachia, including:
- criminal justice reform and restorative justice (decarceration, end money bail, school-to-prison pipeline, drug court)
- health, economic, and social justice (anti-oppression work, black mental health, captivating black men for the movement, the black church and its role in racial justice, healing)
- intergenerational movement building
- sustainable (rather than reactive) community organizing
Accepted facilitators will receive a stipend.
Submit your proposal online by October 5, 2018.
We will follow-up regarding your proposal after October 19.
If you encounter issues with the form, you may email your proposal to GabrielleChapman@CARECoalitionWV.org
